Published in Zenith March 20, 2012.

For once this seemed a straightforward joke, except the little thanx in the corner confused the hell out of a lot of people. OBVIOUSLY it's a Hatlo-esque tip of the Pickelhaube to acknowledge this episode rips off a certain Peanuts strip (which I can't find online to link to, sorry).

It goes like this: Lucy walks in on Linus, who's enjoying a crunchy snack, and she asks what in the world he's eating. He replies, "Sugar lumps with honey!" She makes an unintelligible noise and runs out of the room to barf. He calls after her, "They're good with cinnamon, too."

Geno Whiteman just happens to be the guy who joked about chicken-scented candles while I was in earshot, and I vowed to steal it. It was probably funnier when he told it.

The big coincidence about all this is that in the same issue of Zenith, Richard Scott also made his comic strips tips o' the hat to other comics. Afterlife is a nod to Pearls Before Swine and The Chimney is a snotty parody of "Archie." (You can find your own link to Archie. I'm tired.)
